Macon, GA – A police pursuit in Bibb County ended with a suspect in custody Tuesday after deputies say a stolen vehicle chase turned into a foot pursuit through a residential area.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to stop a stolen Toyota Camry before the driver fled, leading officers on a chase that ended on Bloomfield Drive. Authorities said the suspect then exited the vehicle and ran, with deputies pursuing him on foot into a nearby backyard where he was arrested.

Officials identified the suspect as a 27-year-old male who was already on probation at the time of the incident. According to deputies, he allegedly had a loaded handgun and was driving a vehicle displaying a stolen license plate.

The suspect now faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence of drugs, theft by receiving stolen property (felony), attempting to elude law enforcement for a felony offense, and possession of controlled substances with intent to manufacture. Additional charges include possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, obstruction of law enforcement officers, and a probation violation.

Authorities said the suspect was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center without further incident. No injuries were reported during the pursuit or arrest.
