Darke County, OH – A morning rollover crash left a local driver injured Monday after authorities say a vehicle lost control along a rural roadway.
According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 9:17 a.m. Monday on the 4600 block of Houk Road. Deputies responded alongside Rossburg Fire, Ansonia Rescue, and CareFlight to reports of a one-vehicle rollover with injuries.
Preliminary findings indicate a gray Chevy Trailblazer, driven by a 59-year-old Rossburg woman, was traveling westbound when it drifted off the right side of the road. Authorities say the driver then overcorrected, causing the SUV to cross back over the roadway.
The vehicle left the left side of the road and rolled several times before coming to rest on its roof. Emergency crews stabilized the driver at the scene before she was airlifted by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment. Her current condition has not been released.
The crash temporarily disrupted traffic in the area as first responders worked to secure the scene and investigate. Motorists were advised to avoid the immediate area during the response.
Officials have not indicated whether weather, road conditions, or other factors contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
Houk Road is a rural route in Darke County, located west of Dayton, and is commonly used by local traffic and farm vehicles. Drivers are reminded to use caution on narrow and shoulder-less roads, where overcorrections can lead to serious incidents.
