La Porte County, Ind. – Two 17-year-olds were arrested and charged in a rape investigation following a months-long criminal inquiry, authorities said.

According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began Jan. 5 after a witness reported to the Criminal Investigations Division that sexual acts had allegedly been observed involving a 17-year-old victim at a rural La Porte County residence on Nov. 1, 2025.

Detective Derrick Deck was assigned as the lead investigator, with Detective Alex Pshkur assisting on the case.

Over the following weeks, detectives interviewed the alleged victim and additional witnesses while collecting evidence and reviewing information connected to the report, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators later identified two suspects, both 17 years old.

According to authorities, Detective Deck submitted the case findings to the La Porte County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office during the first week of February for review.

Probable cause was later established in La Porte County Circuit Court. Both suspects were formally charged as adults with one count of rape, a Level 3 felony under Indiana law.

Felony arrest warrants were issued earlier this week.

Authorities said both juveniles have since been located and taken into custody. They were transported to the La Porte County Juvenile Services Center following their arrests.

Officials emphasized that arrests and criminal charges are accusations, and the suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

The investigation remains part of ongoing public safety efforts handled by county detectives. Cases involving juveniles and serious felony allegations can carry significant legal consequences and may affect young residents and students in the community.
