Lake Forest Fire Truck Struck by Vehicle: A Scott’s Law Safety Alert

Lake Forest, IL – A Lake Forest Fire Department engine was struck by a passing vehicle this weekend while responding to a motor vehicle accident (MVA). 

According to Lake Forest Fire the engine was positioned at the time to shield the scene and its personnel, was hit despite having its emergency lights activated. This incident underscores the critical importance of Scott’s Law, which mandates drivers to move over and slow down for stopped emergency vehicles. 

The department reports no injuries from the collision, crediting the law with preventing a potentially dangerous situation from escalating. The department urges motorists to heed Scott’s Law and exercise increased caution during winter conditions.
