BEECHER, IL — The Beecher Police Department has issued an important privacy update for iPhone users following the recent iOS 17 update. The update introduces a new feature called NameDrop, which is set to ON by default. This feature enables the sharing of contact information when iPhones are brought close together.

The department advises iPhone users to navigate to Settings, then General, and AirDrop, selecting the ‘Bringing Devices Together’ option to turn this feature OFF. Parents are especially urged to update these settings on their children’s phones to enhance their safety.

This proactive measure by the Beecher Police Department reflects their commitment to the community’s digital security.
