DuPage County, Ill. – An Aurora man faces 72 felony and misdemeanor counts related to alleged gunrunning, machine-gun conversion devices and illegal firearm sales, state officials announced Monday.

According to Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s office, Daniel Curry, 42, was charged following an investigation involving the ATF, Aurora Police Department and Naperville Police Department. The charges stem from alleged activity between September 2025 and January 2026 in DuPage and Kane counties.

Prosecutors allege Curry participated in the illegal sale of eight firearms and possessed machine-gun conversion devices, silencers and unserialized firearms and receivers. Authorities said a Feb. 3 search warrant executed in Aurora uncovered evidence that Curry allegedly used a 3D printer to manufacture conversion devices capable of turning semi-automatic firearms into fully automatic weapons, which are illegal under Illinois law.

Curry is charged with two counts of gunrunning, 16 counts of unlawful sale or delivery of a firearm, 11 counts of unlawful sale of an unserialized firearm or receiver, multiple counts related to unlawful possession of silencers and conversion devices, and drug-related charges involving psilocybin mushrooms and a substance containing dimethyltryptamine.

If convicted, several felony counts carry potential prison sentences ranging from three to 15 years, while other charges carry penalties of up to seven years. Sentences are determined by the court.

The case is being co-prosecuted with the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office. Officials emphasized that the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
