According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the stop occurred during the early morning hours of Wednesday, Feb. 25, after a deputy reportedly observed multiple traffic violations. During the stop, deputies observed open alcoholic containers inside the vehicle.

Authorities said ammunition was located during the investigation, and the driver allegedly disclosed there was a firearm inside a backpack in the backseat. Deputies obtained and executed a search warrant for the vehicle.

During the search, deputies reported locating a loaded Kel-Tec 9mm AR-style rifle, a loaded Taurus 9mm handgun, and multiple magazines and rounds of ammunition.

Isaiah Garcia, 18, and Jonathan Garcia, 19, were arrested and lodged at the Marion County Correctional Jail. Both are facing charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The sheriff’s office has not released additional details regarding the circumstances of the possession.

The arrests occurred during routine overnight patrol operations. Officials have not indicated whether additional charges are pending.
