Parkersburg, West Virginia – A two-vehicle crash at WV Route 47 and Mound Street sent two people to the hospital Wednesday morning.
According to a Wood County Sheriff’s Office press release, deputies and emergency crews responded at about 6:55 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026, to a reported motor vehicle crash with injuries and possible entrapment near the intersection of WV Rt. 47 and Mound Street, close to the Interstate 77 southbound entrance/exit.
The sheriff’s office said Caleb Torres, 45, of Red House, West Virginia, was traveling westbound on WV Rt. 47 at Mound Street/ the I-77 southbound entrance/exit in a Ford Super Duty utility truck when a Jeep Cherokee driven by Tristan Sampson, 24, of Palestine, West Virginia, attempted to turn left off WV Rt. 47 onto the southbound entrance to I-77.
Sampson appeared to fail to yield to Torres and was struck, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office said Cherokie Wilkey, 45, of Elizabeth, West Virginia, was in the front passenger seat of Sampson’s vehicle and was extricated from the Jeep by responders. Martin Ramsey, 30, of Ansted, West Virginia, was a passenger in Torres’ vehicle, according to the release.
Torres and Ramsey were evaluated at the scene by paramedics and released, the sheriff’s office said. Sampson and Wilkey were transported to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center for treatment of injuries. The extent of their injuries was not released.
