Fairfield, California – Ferrara Candy Company will lay off 69 employees across multiple Fairfield facilities beginning June 1, according to a state filing.

A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification submitted to California labor officials outlines job reductions at five sites in the city.

According to the filing, the affected locations and headcounts include:

  • 1 Jelly Belly Lane — 2 employees
  • 2400 N. Watney Way — 17 employees
  • 2500 N. Watney Way — 33 employees
  • 2385 N. Watney Way — 16 employees
  • 2330 Courage Drive — 1 employee

The largest reduction is planned at 2500 N. Watney Way, where 33 workers are expected to be impacted.

Ferrara manufactures and distributes a variety of popular candy brands, including Lemonheads, Atomic Fireballs, Red Hots, Brach’s, Chuckles, Jujyfruits and Now and Later. The company is also one of the largest producers of candy canes, conversation hearts and jelly beans in the United States.

Fairfield has long served as a key production and distribution hub for Ferrara’s confectionery operations.

California’s WARN Act requires covered employers to provide advance notice of mass layoffs or closures to give workers time to prepare for employment transitions.

Manufacturing and warehouse employees in Solano County may be among those affected as the reductions take effect this summer.
