Blazing Halloween Mystery: What Caused the Late-Night St. Charles Fire?

ST. CHARLES, IL – In the early hours of October 31, a structure fire erupted in a single-story residence on the 35W500 block of Hillcrest Ave. 

According to investigators the home was unoccupied with no reported injuries or animals inside. The immediate response included the Kane County Sheriff’s Deputies, Fox River & Countryside Fire Department, and multiple other agencies. As the residence faced significant damage, the Kane County Fire Investigation Task Force has stepped in for a detailed analysis.

While the cause remains undetermined, officials stress there’s no suspected criminal intent.  An investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing.
