According to the Danville Police Department, officers with the patrol division observed a vehicle on February 22 that they had prior information was being driven by Joseph Vecellio, 36, of Danville. Officers reportedly knew Vecellio had an active arrest warrant through the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The vehicle pursuit continued through the city before ending when Vecellio pulled into a driveway in the 100 block of Avenue C and surrendered, according to police.
Vecellio was arrested and transported to the Vermilion County Jail. He was held on preliminary charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding, in addition to the Illinois Department of Corrections warrant.
