According to the Winnipeg Police Service, officers responded at 5:07 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, to a wellbeing call at a home in the 400 block of Keenleyside Street. West District General Patrol officers located an injured 20-year-old man inside the residence.
The man was transported to hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries, police said.
An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene. At 8:17 p.m., officers arrested a 19-year-old man in the 500 block of St. Mary’s Road.
The Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.
Police identified the victim as 20-year-old Nikolas Bear, a member of Berens River First Nation who had been residing in Winnipeg.
Augustine Owen Bear, 18, and Xaavier Xander Fiddler, 19, have each been charged with manslaughter and aggravated sexual assault. The charges have not been tested in court. Both were detained in custody.
