Annapolis, Maryland – Snow across Maryland has triggered 780 calls for service and 267 crashes since 4 p.m. Sunday, prompting officials to discourage unnecessary travel.

According to the Maryland State Police, troopers have responded to hundreds of crashes statewide as winter weather continues affecting major corridors including Interstate 95, Interstate 70 and routes across the Eastern Shore.

Snow emergency plans remain in effect for most Maryland jurisdictions until further notice. Officials are urging drivers, especially on the Eastern Shore and along primary interstate corridors, to avoid travel unless necessary.

If travel is unavoidable Monday, state police advise motorists to clear all snow from vehicles, including headlights, reduce speeds and allow additional time to reach destinations. Drivers are also encouraged to inform someone of their travel plans and avoid crowding snowplows as crews work to clear roadways.

Authorities emphasized that limited visibility and snow-covered pavement remain ongoing hazards.

The widespread crashes and service calls are impacting commuters, delivery drivers and students returning to school after the weekend.

Officials have not released information about serious injuries but confirmed troopers remain actively responding statewide.

Drivers are encouraged to check local snow emergency designations and continue monitoring official updates throughout the day.
