Kokomo, Indiana – A routine traffic stop in Kokomo led to the seizure of nearly a pound of methamphetamine and multiple felony arrests Wednesday night.

According to the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Lindsey Needler conducted a stop around 7 p.m. Wednesday near Lincoln Road and Goyer Road after observing a white Dodge Ram cross the center line and display an expired Indiana license plate.

The driver, identified as Noah Persing, 28, allegedly showed signs of criminal activity, including nervous behavior and the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Deputies conducted a probable cause search and reported finding 365.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine (approximately 0.81 pounds), 3 grams of suspected cocaine, a 9mm Luger pistol with ammunition, a digital scale, plastic baggies commonly used for narcotics distribution, and two cell phones.

Authorities said the substances field-tested positive for methamphetamine and cocaine. A DNA swab was conducted on the firearm, and detectives from the Sheriff’s Task Force responded to assist.

During the investigation, 29-year-old Amalea Irvin allegedly arrived on scene and later admitted to possessing marijuana. She was taken into custody after deputies reported locating a small baggie of plant-like substance that field-tested positive for THC.

While being booked at the Howard County Jail, correctional staff allegedly discovered additional suspected narcotics concealed on Irvin, including substances that field-tested positive for fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Persing faces multiple felony charges, including dealing methamphetamine and possession offenses. Irvin faces felony narcotics charges. Authorities emphasized that all charges are allegations, and both individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

The case remains under investigation.

The stop occurred along a commonly traveled corridor used by local commuters and students.
