CHICAGO, ILĀ – Invoking the powerful mantra of “Never Again,” the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center has solemnly condemned the cruel demise of Wadea Al-Fayoume, a 6-year-old Palestinian-American boy, in Chicagoland last weekend.Ā

The boy and his mother faced an alleged targeted aggression from their landlord, an act seemingly ignited by media-driven animosity towards Palestinians. The center emphasized that for the promise of “Never Again” to hold true, society must vehemently counter hate in every guise.

ā€œIt bears repeating that for “Never Again” to be a reality, we must speak out against hate in all its forms, and that the murder of children, no matter where they live, is a stain on our entire world.ā€ Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center said in a statement Tuesday night. ā€œOur thoughts and love are with Wadea’s family and his community.ā€

The statement was released hours prior to a candlelight vigil for Wadea organized by American Muslims Assisting Neighbors at the Prairie Activity and Recreation Center late Tuesday night.

In a statement, Plainfield Township said:

ā€œTonight, we will come together and show what the Plainfield community truly is. We are a community that binds together, supports and uplifts one another, and rejects the hate and evil that was displayed this past weekend – it has no home here. Wherever you are tonight, please take a moment and think of this little boy, his mother, and everyone impacted. Plainfield Township offers its deepest and most sincere condolences to the entire community.ā€
