Greenville, South Carolina – A Greenville County man was sentenced to 30 years for drug trafficking convictions.

According to the Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, a Greenville County jury on Thursday, Feb. 12, convicted Benjamin David Miller, 56, of trafficking cocaine (10–28 grams, second offense), trafficking fentanyl (second offense), possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of methamphetamine.

The Honorable Veron D. Dunbar sentenced Miller to 30 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections following the verdict.

Prosecutors said the charges stem from a Dec. 12, 2023 traffic stop conducted by deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office. According to the solicitor’s office, deputies allegedly observed narcotics in plain view inside Miller’s vehicle before conducting a search.

During that search, investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Directed Patrol Unit reportedly discovered quantities of cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and methamphetamine packaged for individual sale. Authorities alleged the drugs were intended for distribution within the community.

Assistant Solicitors Sydney Case and Jack Jopling presented evidence during the trial. The case was investigated by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Directed Patrol Unit.

The conviction concludes a case that moved through the court system for more than two years following the initial traffic stop.

Drug trafficking cases can impact neighborhood safety and public health, particularly in areas where fentanyl distribution remains a concern for law enforcement and families.
