According to the Peoria Police Department, officers were alerted at approximately 12:38 a.m. Friday after five ShotSpotter alerts detected about 63 rounds fired within a 30-second span in the 1200–1300 block of East Frye Avenue.
Police said officers arrived within three minutes and requested an ambulance after learning a victim was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male in a parking lot between 2102 and 2104 North Prospect Road. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, according to police.
Preliminary information indicates a gathering was taking place at a business located at 2104 West Prospect Road when an unknown suspect allegedly approached the victim and opened fire. Police said additional individuals at the scene also discharged firearms during the incident before fleeing the area.
