Aurora, Illinois – A Sunday night domestic stabbing at a west-side Aurora home left two people injured and led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man, according to police.
According to the Aurora Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 8:00 p.m. Sunday to a residence in the 800 block of Hammond Avenue in Kane County for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, officers encountered two adult victims suffering from stab-related injuries.
Police said officers coordinated emergency medical care at the scene until both victims were transported to separate hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries was not released.
Investigators determined the incident allegedly stemmed from a domestic-related situation involving a behavioral health crisis inside the residence. No additional suspects were sought, and there was no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.
A 23-year-old Aurora man, identified by police as Dayton Paul Craig, was arrested at the scene. Authorities said he was charged with attempted first-degree murder, multiple counts of aggravated domestic battery, and domestic battery.
Police emphasized that the charges are allegations and that Craig is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court. The case remains under investigation.
The incident was among multiple violent calls handled by Aurora police over the weekend, highlighting the ongoing risks associated with domestic disputes escalating into serious violence.
For residents, particularly young adults and families living in shared or multi-generational housing, police continue to urge early intervention and the use of mental health and crisis resources when situations begin to escalate.
