Darlington County, South Carolina – Two people were arrested following a January mob fight on Weaver Street that allegedly involved threats with a firearm, authorities said.

According to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched Jan. 20 to an establishment on Weaver Street in the Darlington area in reference to a reported mob fight. Investigators said multiple individuals were involved in a physical altercation that occurred between a business and a residential parking lot.

Officials said the individuals involved left the scene before deputies arrived. Through digital evidence and follow-up investigation, deputies identified several people who allegedly participated in a violent assault on a victim.

Investigators determined the suspects allegedly acted “without due regard or in a lawful manner,” and authorities said the defendants also allegedly threatened to use a firearm to shoot the victim during the incident.

As a result of the investigation, Donasia Glenn and Nashayla Benjamin were arrested Feb. 5 and charged with breach of peace, aggravated in nature, according to the sheriff’s office.

A bond hearing for Glenn and Benjamin was held Wednesday afternoon. A Darlington County magistrate issued both defendants a $5,000 personal recognizance bond, authorities said.

The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office said it does not tolerate violent behavior in the community and will continue to pursue accountability in similar cases.

“This is an active investigation and more arrests may follow,” the sheriff’s office stated.

The incident occurred in a mixed residential and commercial area, a setting frequently traveled by nearby workers and students, according to local officials.
