According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded Wednesday, February 4, to the area of Meadow Road and Sunshine Boulevard in reference to a reported robbery involving a firearm near the 7-Eleven convenience store.
Investigators said the suspect, identified as Roman Deleon, allegedly held the victim at gunpoint during the encounter. Deputies reported that a concealed firearm was stolen from the victim’s waistband during the incident.
The Sheriff’s Office said analysts with its Real Time Intelligence Center assisted deputies by quickly identifying a vehicle of interest connected to the alleged robbery. Deputies later responded to Rawlings Avenue in Lehigh Acres, where they made contact with the suspect.
At that point, detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit assumed control of the investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Investigators obtained and executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence on Rawlings Avenue.
During the search, detectives reportedly located a Canik 9mm handgun that matched the description of the firearm allegedly used in the robbery.
Based on the investigation, deputies said they established probable cause to arrest Deleon on a charge of robbery with a firearm. Jail and court records were not immediately available, and no additional charges were announced.
