Bibb County, Georgia – A wanted suspect was arrested after a foot pursuit ended in a swampy area and pond, drawing a multi-division response in Bibb County.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Michael Dorough located the suspect during a rainstorm after investigators initially attempted to execute a Criminal Investigation Division property unit arrest. The suspect allegedly fled on a dirt bike before abandoning it and continuing on foot.

Deputies said the pursuit continued after the suspect jumped a fence and attempted to flee through a wooded, swampy area behind a home on Dixon Road. Authorities reported the suspect entered a pond in an apparent effort to evade capture.

Once located in the water, Sgt. Dorough pulled the suspect from the pond. The man was then placed in handcuffs and transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center by H.E.A.T. Unit Sgt. Reginald Tillman, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office stated the suspect was wanted on outstanding warrants in both Bibb County and Jones County. Additional charges are pending.

No injuries were reported in connection with the arrest. Authorities did not release the suspect’s name or the specific nature of the outstanding warrants.

The incident underscores the risks deputies face during rain-soaked pursuits and the lengths suspects may allegedly go to avoid arrest. Dixon Road and surrounding residential areas were not reported to have been closed during the incident.

Commuters and nearby residents may have noticed an increased law enforcement presence during the arrest.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information may be released as charges are finalized.
