Nashville, TN: One Dead After Domestic Shooting Inside Home

According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, homicide detectives are seeking a 39-year-old man for questioning as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, which occurred Thursday morning in the 3700 block of Hydes Ferry Road.

Investigators said a woman who lives at the residence told officers that the 39-year-old man, whom she identified as her current boyfriend, was visiting when her former boyfriend arrived and began knocking on the front door and a bedroom window for an extended period. The woman reported that she went to the front door and attempted to step outside when the former boyfriend allegedly pushed past her and forced his way into the home.

Police said the former boyfriend then moved toward the 39-year-old man. The woman told investigators she heard gunshots shortly afterward. According to authorities, the 39-year-old man left the scene following the shooting.

The victim, identified as the former boyfriend, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Police said a chaplain is working to locate and notify the victim’s next of kin.

No arrests had been announced as of Thursday afternoon. Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active and that detectives are continuing to gather evidence and conduct interviews.

Police did not release information about a weapon recovered or whether charges are expected. Officials also did not indicate whether there is an ongoing threat to the public.
