
Standish, Maine – Maine State Police are investigating a fatal shooting that left one man dead and another injured at a Standish residence.
According to Maine State Police, deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 9:28 p.m. Tuesday to a home on Kennie Drive following a report of an altercation. When deputies arrived, they located an adult male deceased inside the residence.
A second adult male was found injured and was transported to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening, police said. Authorities did not release details about the nature of the altercation or the relationship between the individuals involved.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit – South was called to the scene to assist with the investigation. The deceased was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy was later conducted.
Police said the cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
The victim was identified as 23-year-old Thomas Foster of Porter. Authorities stated there is no danger to the public at this time.
Investigators did not announce any arrests or identify a suspect in the case. Police said the investigation remains ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
Residents in the Kennie Drive area may have noticed a law enforcement presence Tuesday night as investigators processed the scene. Authorities emphasized that incidents of this nature are handled collaboratively among local and state agencies to ensure a thorough investigation.
