Putnam County, Florida – A high school student was arrested after allegedly posting a music video threatening to kill classmates.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the arrest occurred Wednesday after a student at Palatka Junior-Senior High School allegedly shared a music video on social media that named classmates and described specific ways they would be killed. School officials notified law enforcement after becoming aware of the video.
Deputies said the victims reported they currently have classes with the student and stated that he had previously made threats toward them, including statements about harming them and damaging their homes. Investigators said the video allegedly described where the victims would be shot and included explicit threats such as “I will end you.”
Authorities charged the juvenile with three counts of written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, conduct a mass shooting, or commit an act of terrorism, a second-degree felony under Florida law. Due to the suspect’s age, identifying information was not released.
The Sheriff’s Office said the student was booked into the Putnam County Jail and is being transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Volusia County. Officials did not indicate whether additional charges are possible or if further arrests are anticipated.
Law enforcement emphasized that threats of school violence are taken seriously regardless of whether they are made online, in music, or as jokes. Investigators credited school staff and students for reporting the concerning behavior promptly.
Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the school at this time. Parents and students were encouraged to report any threatening behavior or online posts immediately to school officials or law enforcement.
This incident remains under investigation.
