Spokane County, WA – An hours-long domestic violence standoff in Spokane County ended late Saturday night when deputies arrested an allegedly armed suspect after SWAT officers breached a residence near W. Four Mound Road.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 6:35 p.m. Saturday, February 1, to a reported active domestic violence assault at a home east of the intersection of W. Farwell Road and N. Dover Road, west of Spokane.
Authorities said the suspect, 38-year-old Valeriy Titov, was allegedly agitated, intoxicated, and assaulting a family member inside the residence. Deputies made contact with an adult female victim and other family members who had fled the home for safety.
Investigators reported that Titov allegedly struck the victim, threw objects at other family members, and was believed to have access to firearms. Deputies attempted to contact him, but he allegedly refused commands to exit the home or surrender peacefully.
Due to the escalating situation, deputies requested assistance from the SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiators, and additional resources while obtaining a search warrant. Despite repeated commands and warnings that force could be used, officials said Titov remained inside the residence for several hours.
With probable cause established for Assault in the Fourth Degree (Domestic Violence) and Obstructing Law Enforcement, SWAT officers breached the door as negotiations continued.
At approximately 11:20 p.m., authorities said Titov exited the home and surrendered without further incident. He was taken into custody and transported to the Spokane County Jail, where he was booked on the domestic violence assault and obstruction charges.
No serious injuries to deputies were reported.
Residents in the area experienced a heavy law enforcement presence throughout the evening as the standoff unfolded.
