Peoria, IL – A late-night hit-and-run in Peoria ended with an arrest after police used drone assistance to locate a suspect who allegedly fled the scene on foot.
According to the Peoria Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 11:34 p.m. Sunday to the 4000 block of North University Street after reports of a vehicle striking a residence. When officers arrived, they found a vehicle with significant damage parked in the front yard of the home. The driver had already left the scene before police arrived.
Police said officers conducted a brief search of the surrounding area and later located the suspect with assistance from a police drone. The individual was identified as 20-year-old Kennio N. Johnson.
Johnson was taken into custody and arrested on charges of Failure to Remain at the Scene of an Accident, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Justice, and an active warrant, according to police. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
No injuries were reported in connection with the crash, and authorities have not released additional details about the extent of property damage or what led up to the incident.
