Peoria, IL – A reported stolen vehicle incident in Peoria Sunday night ended with a crash and the arrest of a juvenile suspect, according to the Peoria Police Department.

According to police, officers were dispatched at approximately 7:10 p.m. Sunday to the 500 block of East Melbourne Avenue after receiving a report of a stolen vehicle. During the investigation, officers observed the vehicle traveling westbound on Nebraska Avenue from Wisconsin Avenue.

When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle allegedly fled at a high rate of speed. Due to safety concerns, officers did not pursue the vehicle, police said.

A short time later, officers located the stolen vehicle after it had crashed at the intersection of Nebraska Avenue and Hampton Street. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

Police said three individuals exited the vehicle and fled the area on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, officers apprehended one suspect in the 2100 block of North Street. The suspect was identified as a 16-year-old male.

According to police, the juvenile was arrested for Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle and Resisting a Peace Officer. He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center. The remaining suspects were not located.
