LAS VEGAS — The Strip has said goodbye to one of its longest-running resident productions as Love closed and The Mirage began its transformation.

In 2006, Cirque du Soleil’s Love opened at The Mirage, becoming the resort’s first Beatles-themed production and holding a special place in the hearts of locals and visitors. The show represented a shift from spectacle-driven shows to music-driven, narrative residences. The show offered entertainment for the older audience looking to reminisce and a high-energy performance for non-gamblers.

For over 18 years, Love was a staple production on the Strip, Beatles-approved. The closure of the show in 2024 marks the shift to pop-up residencies and shorter runs. As the Polynesian-themed casino resort underwent its transformation into the Hard Rock Cafe, the end of shows signals that entertainment is no longer the anchor. Nowadays, the Strip prioritizes sports events like the F1 and Raiders, nightlife, and dining empires.
Love’s ending represents a hard truth: long-running shows will struggle to compete with limited-run exclusivity as seen in venues like the Sphere.
