Sussex County, DE – A multi-town investigation into vehicle thefts across western Sussex County has led to the arrest of three individuals, including a Seaford man and a Bridgeville teenager, according to Delaware State Police.
According to police, troopers and detectives began investigating several vehicle thefts reported in Blades, Bridgeville, Laurel, and Seaford. Investigators say suspects allegedly targeted residential driveways, stealing vehicles including a Hyundai and a Kia. Some vehicles were reportedly unlocked, while others were entered and stolen without the use of keys.
Through investigative efforts and public tips, detectives identified three suspects, including a 22-year-old man from Seaford, a 20-year-old man from Bridgeville, and a 16-year-old male from Bridgeville.
On Thursday, January 16, members of the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force responded to a residence in the 12000 block of Jones Dogwood Drive in Bridgeville. Police say the 22-year-old suspect and the juvenile were taken into custody without incident. During a search of the property, detectives allegedly located drug paraphernalia in a shed where the 20-year-old suspect was staying.
An administrative search of the shed reportedly uncovered a rifle, firearm components, approximately 4.53 grams of heroin, cocaine residue, a digital scale, Pyrex containers, and other drug-related items.
The 16-year-old was charged with multiple felony counts of motor vehicle theft, attempted theft, conspiracy, criminal mischief, and trespassing. He was arraigned and released to a parent on his own recognizance.
The 22-year-old Seaford man was charged with felony vehicle theft and related offenses and was also released on his own recognizance.
The 20-year-old Bridgeville man faces numerous felony charges, including firearm offenses and drug manufacturing and possession charges. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $146,600 cash bond.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
