Newington, N.H. – A Somersworth woman was arrested Saturday evening after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop on Route 16 and leading troopers on a high-speed pursuit exceeding 100 mph, according to the New Hampshire State Police.
The pursuit began at 5:55 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, when Trooper Philip Sheehy attempted to stop a silver 2022 Honda Accord for speeding on Route 16 southbound in Dover. Officials say the driver failed to yield and accelerated, prompting a pursuit.
Troopers followed the Honda until it exited the highway at Exit 3, where the vehicle veered off the road and came to rest in the median. According to state police, the driver fled the crash scene but was quickly detained with help from a passing motorist—an off-duty officer with the Ogunquit, Maine Police Department.
The suspect was identified as Stephanie Dupont, 41, of Somersworth. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
State Police say Dupont was arrested on multiple charges, including felony counts of operating after being certified as a habitual offender, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, disobeying an officer, and aggravated driving while under the influence. She is scheduled for arraignment on Monday, December 22, 2025, in Portsmouth District Court.
Troopers were assisted by Newington police and fire departments during the response. A portion of the Exit 3 off-ramp was closed for roughly 30 minutes.
