GIBSON CITY, IL – Police officers will be stationed at Gibson City Melvin High School starting Wednesday after a threatening note was found on May 4th.

The reported note threatened to bomb the school, prompting the school’s superintendent to send out a text message to parents.

Beginning Wednesday backpacks will be checked and students will be required to enter through the main entrance for the rest of the week. While the threats are not believed to be viable, the school is taking them very seriously.

Last month, schools around the state went on lockdown after multiple institutions received fake threats.
