Jasper County, IN: Indiana Police Search for Missing Driver After Rensselaer Crash Saturday

Rensselaer, IN – A driver is missing after a vehicle slammed into a power pole early Saturday morning west of Rensselaer, according to the Rensselaer Volunteer Fire Department.

The crash was reported around 4:48 a.m. Authorities arrived to find a heavily damaged vehicle but no driver at the scene. According to officials, police conducted a foot search of surrounding properties and also deployed a drone in efforts to locate the missing individual.

Emergency crews worked to secure the area due to downed power lines, and utility workers were called in to assist. Multiple fire, police, and EMS units responded.

Authorities have not yet released details on the identity of the driver or whether foul play is suspected. As of Friday morning, the search for the individual continues.

Residents in the area may experience temporary power outages and are urged to avoid the crash site while crews finish clearing debris. Police ask anyone with information about the driver or the incident to contact Jasper County authorities.
