PITTSBURGH – Family and friends can enjoy the annual Hay Day festival Saturday, Sept. 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weather permitting. Allegheny County’s Parks Department will host the event at the Hartwood Acres Amphitheater near Allison Park.

Allegheny County provides hayrides, face painting, petting zoos, puppet shows, and more for free. Other free events and activities include a School of Rock show, a Scott the Reptile show, art stations, a soccer dartboard, and balloon twisters. Children and adults also have access to a sensory-friendly play area.

Residents can meet Amo, the official Riverhounds mascot, during the festival. Local vendors and food trucks will serve food and drinks. Options range from falafel wraps and Chicago-style hot dogs to homemade cookies and roasted nuts.

The Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra, one of the oldest youth orchestras in the country, closes the festival with a performance starting at 2 PM.

Groups can enjoy mansion tours, stroll through the sculpture garden, take orienteering courses, or spend time with their dogs in Hartwood Acres Park in addition to the festival.

Residents that may miss Saturday’s festival will have another chance next Saturday, Sept. 27. The county will host another Hay Day festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at South Park near the South Park Township.
