Wilmington, IL – Drivers in southern Will County should prepare for delays as a two-week road construction project begins next week on Stripmine Road.
According to the Will County Department of Transportation, the project will take place on Stripmine Road between the Union Pacific Rail Crossing and Route 129. Crews will reduce the roadway to one lane at times, and drivers may experience travel delays.
The work is scheduled to begin the week of September 23 and last for approximately two weeks, officials said. Access to all homes and businesses in the affected area will remain open during construction.
Local officials, including the Wilmington Fire Protection District and Wilmington Police Department, advised residents and commuters to allow extra time for travel and to use caution when driving through the construction zone.
The improvements are expected to enhance road safety and maintain infrastructure in the area. Drivers are encouraged to monitor county updates for any changes to the construction schedule.
