Nashville, TN – A 36-year-old motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon in a collision on Gallatin Pike South, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

Police said the crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Gallatin Pike South when a Harley Davidson motorcycle struck the back of a northbound Toyota Rav4. Investigators reported that the SUV had slowed to make a right-hand turn into a parking lot when the motorcycle hit it from behind.

According to Metro Police, the motorcyclist, identified as C.W. Smith of Nashville, was thrown from his Harley Davidson. He was transported to Skyline Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities confirmed there were no signs of impairment at the scene.

The crash temporarily slowed traffic along Gallatin Pike South as investigators worked at the site. Police said efforts are ongoing to notify the rider’s family.

The incident marks another fatal motorcycle crash in Davidson County this year, with police urging drivers and riders to remain cautious on heavily traveled roads such as Gallatin Pike.
