Bedford, VA – A large-scale drug investigation in Bedford County led to the seizure of more than $440,000 worth of narcotics and multiple firearms, authorities said.
According to Virginia State Police, members of the James River Regional Drug Task Force and Bedford County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant June 26 in the 200 block of Byrnes Street in Goodview. Investigators seized 2,041 grams of suspected cocaine, 1,000 grams of heroin, 1,000 grams of fentanyl, 283 grams of methamphetamine and 56 grams of crack cocaine. Police also confiscated 10 handguns, three AR-15 rifles and a shotgun.
State police said the task force began its investigation in November 2024, focusing on methamphetamine and cocaine distribution in Bedford County. During the investigation, 36-year-old Justin Antwan Berger was allegedly identified as a key supplier.
Berger was arrested Aug. 20 by U.S. Marshals at his Bedford County residence. Authorities said he was wanted in connection with the narcotics and firearms recovered during the June raid.
Police said Berger is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail on multiple charges, including narcotics distribution, firearms violations and eluding law enforcement.
