Chicago, IL – Illinois residents are being targeted by a new scam text falsely claiming to be from U.S. Bank. The message warns of a pending $1,320.50 charge at “Sports Fanatics” and urges recipients to reply or click a link to cancel.

According to multiple sources, the texts come from unfamiliar numbers and link to fraudulent websites designed to steal personal or financial information. U.S. Bank has not commented on this scam, but financial experts warn the messages are not legitimate.

Authorities urge residents not to click the link or respond. Instead, block the number, report the message as junk, and contact your bank directly using the phone number on your card if you have concerns.

The Federal Trade Commission reports text scams are among the fastest-rising frauds nationwide, costing Americans hundreds of millions each year.
