According to the agency, 53-year-old Christopher Partin was pronounced dead at 8:02 p.m. Thursday by an emergency room physician at Franciscan Hospital Crown Point. The Lake County Coroner and Medicolegal Death Investigation team responded to the hospital shortly after 8:30 p.m.

Officials said Partin sustained multiple blunt force traumatic injuries in the incident, which occurred at the intersection of U.S. 231 and Indiana 10 in Demotte. A forensic autopsy was conducted Friday at the Lake County Forensic Center in Crown Point. The manner of death remains pending.
