Elgin, IL – A local man is facing serious allegations this week after authorities say he was arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography and violating the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act.

According to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, Jerry W. Pendry Jr. was arrested on July 10, 2025, after investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on the 1900 block of Royal Blvd in Elgin. Authorities allege Pendry, a previously convicted sex offender, possessed multiple videos containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) involving victims under 13 years old as of December 4, 2024.

Prosecutors allege that between May 12, 2025, and July 10, 2025, Pendry allegedly failed to notify the proper agency about his use of new instant messaging identities on platforms such as Kik and Discord, which is a violation of the Sex Offender Registration Act. He is charged with three counts of possession of child pornography (Class 1 felony) and two counts of failure to inform the agency of information change as a sex offender (Class 3 felony).

The Kane County Child Exploitation Unit, the FBI, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the Elgin Police Department participated in the investigation. The Child Exploitation Unit is a collaborative effort launched in 2022 by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and the State’s Attorney’s Office to enhance the protection of children in Illinois.

Pendry is currently detained in the Kane County jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 23 at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 313 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

The charges against the defendant are allegations and not proof of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
