Joliet, IL – A minor league baseball team in Illinois is taking ballpark promotions to new heights—literally.
The Joliet Slammers are teaming up with Pabst Light on Tuesday, July 22, for an unusual world record attempt: dropping 2,600 hot dogs from a helicopter during an inning break at their home game against the Gateway Grizzlies. The spectacle is part of a promotional night celebrating the release of Pabst Light’s newest beer.
According to a statement from the team, the “Wiener Drop” will unfold mid-game at Slammers Stadium with pre-packaged hot dogs raining down for fans to catch and enjoy. Tickets for the night are available for just $2.60 when using the promo code WIENER26 through July 21 at 11:59 p.m.
“We’ve done a lot of wild promotions at the ballpark—but dropping 2,600 hot dogs from a helicopter for fans to eat to attempt a world record? That’s a new one, even for us,” said Night Train Veeck, Slammers EVP and Owner.
Hunter Cox, Brand Manager for Pabst, added, “There really isn’t a better trio than beer, hot dogs, and baseball. Hearing the Slammers team wanted Pabst Light to be involved with this world record breaking idea, we had to jump on.”
The Slammers will also offer $2 Pabst Light cans and their regular Tuesday food and drink deals throughout the evening.
The game kicks off at 6:35 p.m. Tickets, group plans, suites, and more details on the 2025 season are available at www.jolietslammers.com or by calling 815-722-2287.
