Fatal Motorcycle and Minivan Collision Shuts Down Butterfield Road in Wheaton

Wheaton, IL – A 22-year-old man was killed Wednesday morning in a crash involving a motorcycle and a minivan that closed part of Butterfield Road for several hours in Wheaton.

According to the City of Wheaton Government, the collision occurred around 10:05 a.m. at the intersection of Butterfield Road and Herrick Road. Police, along with fire and paramedic units from Wheaton and Warrenville, responded to the scene and found the male motorcyclist suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported by Warrenville Paramedics to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Butterfield Road was shut down for approximately four and a half hours while the Wheaton Police Department and the MERIT Major Crash Reconstruction Team investigated the scene. The road has since been reopened.

Authorities said the incident remains under investigation and no additional information has been released. Police are urging drivers to exercise caution in the area and respect all posted traffic updates.

City officials extended condolences to the victim’s family, friends, and the community impacted by the crash.
