Davenport, IA – Two juveniles were arrested Monday in connection with threats of violence made against Sudlow Middle School, prompting an increased security presence and law enforcement response in Davenport.
According to the Davenport Police Department, a 13-year-old and a 12-year-old were each charged with Harassment in the First Degree following an investigation into potential threats made against students and staff. Officers said no credible threat was ultimately found, but law enforcement acted out of caution to protect the school environment.
Davenport police collaborated with Davenport Community School District officials and deployed additional security resources and School Resource Officers (SROs) to the middle school early Monday morning.
The incident remains under investigation, and no further information has been released.
The department emphasized the importance of reporting suspicious activity to authorities rather than posting it on social media. Officials encouraged community members to use trusted adults or report tips anonymously via the P3 app or qccrimestoppers.com.
Davenport Police reiterated that all threats to schools are treated seriously, regardless of perceived credibility, due to the potential to disrupt the learning environment and create widespread concern.
