Scattered Storms, Severe Weather Possible for Chicago Area

Chicago, IL – Unseasonably warm weather grips Chicago, promising scattered storms and potential severe weather in northern Illinois, the National Weather Service reports.

Today’s forecast calls for temperatures ranging between 75-84°F, with the highest chance of storms northwest of I-55. These conditions extend into Friday with a slight cooling near Lake Michigan.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered thunderstorms will likely develop by this afternoon across northwest Illinois, spreading east into early evening. Some of these storms could turn severe, with a level 1 threat of damaging winds and hail, primarily northwest of I-55.

Officials advise residents to seek shelter indoors when hearing thunder and to stay informed on weather updates as conditions could rapidly change.
