Thorntown, IN – In an effort to improve traffic conditions, the Indiana Department of Transportation has announced that temporary lane and crossover closures on U.S. 52 and State Road 47 in the vicinity of Thorntown will begin on April 15th.

These closures, which are set to facilitate the addition of turn lanes on U.S. 52, are expected to last through the fall season. Commuters should anticipate detours and delays.

According to the latest INDOT release, the closures will specifically impact the left lane of U.S. 52 between County Road 450 W and C.R. 650 N, including the crossover at S.R. 47. Construction work, which is contingent on weather conditions, is part of a broader initiative to enhance roadway safety and efficiency.

INDOT urges drivers to exercise caution, heed traffic signs, and consider worker safety while navigating the area. Updated information can be accessed through INDOT West Central’s social media channels and the TrafficWise mobile app.
