La Porte County, IN – A 48-year-old man, Troy L. Slack, has been arrested in connection with the fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of Keith A. Eastwood on April 22.

According to Sheriff’s Department reports the incident occurred early Monday morning on the 11800 west block of US 6, where Eastwood was struck by a vehicle that subsequently fled the scene. A passerby discovered Eastwood around 6:00 AM, and he was pronounced dead at the location. Following the crash, La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, alongside the Criminal Investigations Division and the Fatal Alcohol Crash Team, initiated a comprehensive investigation.

The discovery of significant vehicle evidence at the scene helped detectives narrow their search, eventually spotting a suspect vehicle in the Flock Safety camera database.

On the following day, Captain Andy Hynek located the vehicle and arrested Slack at a residence on Capital Road in Porter County. The vehicle was seized and taken to a secure facility.

Slack now faces alleged charges of Leaving the Scene – Causing Death, a Level 4 Felony, and is currently held on a $20,000 cash-only bond at La Porte County Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings.
