Scott County, IN – A late-night collision on Interstate 65 in Indiana resulted in the deaths of two commercial truck drivers, officials from the Indiana State Police Sellersburg Post reported. The crash, involving three semi-trucks, occurred southbound near the 33-mile marker, just south of the Austin exit around 11:50 p.m. on Monday.
Upon arrival, emergency responders encountered a severe scene with two trucks engulfed in flames and blocking traffic. According to preliminary findings, the incident began when a semi-truck halted in traffic due to nearby construction. A subsequent failure to stop by a following truck led to a chain-reaction collision that pushed the second truck into the first, igniting the devastating fires.
Both drivers in the colliding trucks were pronounced dead at the scene. A third victim, resting in the sleeper cab of one of the trucks, suffered severe burns and was urgently transported to University Hospital in Louisville for treatment.
The identities of the deceased have not been released as the investigation continues.
