Lake County, IN – Fatal Blaze Claims Child’s Life after Delivery Driver Attempts Rescue

Munster, IN – A tragic fire engulfed a townhome in Munster, Indiana, on Monday morning, with emergency responders fearing the worst for a child reportedly trapped inside. 

According to first responders on the scene the blaze, which erupted around 11:16 AM in the Cobblestone subdivision on Cornwallis, drew an immediate response from the Munster Fire Department, met with intense flames and heavy smoke upon arrival.

A local delivery driver and a parent desperately attempted multiple rescues, striving to reach the child amid rapidly spreading flames and overpowering smoke. Unfortunately, their efforts proved futile, and the parent was subsequently hospitalized with injuries. The Lake County Coroner was later called to the scene. 

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
