Shorewood, IL – Commuters take heed: major traffic delays are on the horizon for I-80 travelers in Will County due to scheduled bridge work.
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that beginning this week, there will be significant nightly full traffic stops on I-80 at the River Road bridge in Shorewood. These interruptions, starting at 1 a.m. and lasting no more than 15 minutes each, are necessary to set bridge beams.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, the eastbound lanes of I-80 will experience one-lane reductions starting at 8 p.m., with complete halts at 1 a.m., and will reopen by 5 a.m. daily.
On April 29 and 30, the pattern will repeat, and starting May 1, westbound lanes will also see closures. The department urges drivers to plan their late-night travel accordingly and remain vigilant for on-site flaggers.
