JOLIET, IL – The Joliet community faces a tragic turn of events as the body of Robert Long, 37, was found in the Des Plaines River near McDonough Street bridge. Long, who had been reported missing on April 13 after last being seen near North Bluff Street on April 11, was discovered deceased on April 19. This confirmation came after extensive search efforts by the Joliet Police and Fire Departments, using both ground and aerial search technologies.

According to the Joliet Police Department, Long was identified shortly after his body was recovered by search teams in the river. The ongoing investigation into his disappearance intensified last week with multiple searches along the river, but no substantial leads were found until the tragic discovery. The Will County Coroner’s Office has scheduled a postmortem exam for April 20 to determine the exact cause of death.

The Joliet Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Long’s disappearance and death. They urge anyone with information or footage that might help in the investigation to come forward. The police and the Long family, who are currently dealing with this devastating loss, ask for the public’s assistance in bringing clarity to this case.
