Cook County, IL – A seemingly ordinary burglary took an unusual turn when a suspect left behind DNA on a wine bottle associated with rapper Snoop Dogg, leading to his arrest.

The incident occurred in an unincorporated area of Rich Township, where 35-year-old Jeremiah Phillips allegedly entered a home on September 6, 2023, and left it in disarray.

Authorities said surveillance footage showed Phillips kicking open the door of a detached garage, where he drank from a “19 Crimes” wine bottle, a brand promoted by Snoop Dogg. He attempted to cover his tracks by spraying the security cameras with paint. However, the DNA collected from the wine bottle eventually connected him to the crime.

Phillips was arrested on May 1, and faced multiple felony charges, including residential burglary. Despite the evidence against him, he was released on bail after his initial court appearance last Friday.
